Gum Removal

gum removal in seattle

Need Gum Gone? Chewing gum removal is a sticky business, whether it’s on your concrete, parking lot or on the side of a building, chewing gum eventually changes into a dark smudge on concrete. But before that happens, pedestrians and clientele walking into a business will walk on it and track it in all over your carpets and entryway mats. Then it is embedded deep into the carpet and into the porous surface of concrete or asphalt, just waiting for another person to step in it again, to track it somewhere else.

We are happy to provide gum removal as one of our commercial pressure washing services in Seattle WA. Find information about our service below:

The best methods for removing chewing gum from concrete usually depends on how long the gum has been there and the level of penetration into the concrete surface. If the gum was left recently and it hasn’t penetrated the surface, we are sometimes able to get it off by covering it with ice until the gum freezes, then scraping it off with a metal putty knife.

The ice forces the chewing gum to freeze into a workable substance compared to a warm and sticky glob. Once that happens, we slide a metal putty knife or scraper right under the gum residue. After that we move the scraper slowly beneath the gum and the whole piece should then peel right off of the concrete.

The above process is only possible with brand new gum.

When we remove gum that has turned black, or is smashed deep down into the concrete, we use a hot water pressure washer with the heat dialed up to 200 Degrees to melt the gum. For this type of gum removal, we will not use very high pressure because that could harm the surface of the concrete!

Our team never uses more pressure than necessary to clean concrete. These surfaces can be damaged much easier than people think, especially if they’re only a couple of years old. Concrete can need up to 100 years to cure completely. That is why we always use hot water and the least amount of pressure possible for our chewing gum removal service.

To remove chewing gum from concrete and other commercial surfaces we use specially designed hot water power washing tools and special soaps that enable us to clean the surface without leading to any damages.

Using special 200 degree hot water power washers and low pressure, we are able to safely remove chewing gum and dirt all while protecting the surface. Our process will also destroy bacteria and germs that sometimes found in gum.
